Zlobby: where roleplayers find their next table

Finding players is the hardest part of any campaign. Zlobby is a social network for gamers built around that exact problem, with lobbies to recruit your table, room for every kind of roleplay and plenty to do between sessions.

What you’ll learn in this article

What is Zlobby?

Zlobby (pronounced “the lobby”) is a social network for adult gamers. Its whole idea fits in one sentence: help people find others to play with. That can be a ranked duo, a guild, a group of friends to chat with, or a full table for a tabletop campaign.

It is free to use, open to players aged 18 and over, available in 31 languages and moderated with the help of AI. And because roleplayers are some of the most demanding people when it comes to finding the right group, a large part of Zlobby is built with them in mind.

Tabletop RPG: a lobby for your table

On Zlobby, a group starts with a lobby. As a GM, you create one for your campaign, choose how many players it can hold and whether people join freely or apply first. Then you set the frame in its description, before anyone rolls a die: the system (D&D 5e, Pathfinder, an indie game or your own homebrew), the pace, the tone and the platform you play on.

Example of a Zlobby lobby for a D&D 5e campaign, The Mistcrown Chronicles: tags, a short description, join mode on application, English, 3 of 5 members and the next session shown in each player’s time zone.
An illustrative tabletop lobby: it describes the game so the right players recognise it. Banner art: GM Craft Tavern.
  • Tip: Put the system, the schedule, the tone and the platform in the first lines of your lobby description, and ask applicants one question, such as the character they would like to play. Their answers make the choice much easier.

Interested players apply with a short message. You read it next to their profile, accept the ones who fit your table, and the lobby becomes your group’s home base. If you would rather just sit down and play, browse the lobbies that are recruiting and apply to one.

  • Example: A player applies with: “I have played 5e for two years, mostly support casters, and I am free every other Thursday. I would love to try a ranger who knows the old forest.” In two sentences, you know the experience, the availability and the character.

Inside, a lobby works like a small private server built for organising a group. There are text channels with replies, reactions and pinned messages, an announcements channel, shared documents for house rules or lore, checklists, and a sessions channel where you schedule the next game. Each member sees the session time in their own time zone, which saves a lot of confusion in international groups.

From the first announcement to the hundredth session, the lobby keeps the whole group in one place: recruitment, applications, planning and the conversations between games.

The Find a TTRPG Group page on Zlobby: create a lobby to find players for a tabletop RPG, whether D&D, Pathfinder or your own homebrew.

Want strangers to find your table? You can publish a public recruitment page for your lobby, with a banner, an illustration, your rules and a gallery of images and YouTube or Twitch clips. It is listed in the Communities recruiting directory.

The Find a TTRPG Group page walks through the whole flow, whether you are a GM recruiting or a player looking for a seat, and the Zlobby blog explains how to write a good LFG post.

Every kind of roleplay

Roleplay does not stop at the tabletop. Some groups play by post, one reply at a time. Others build a whole shared world together, bring their characters to life in an MMO, or meet for a live-action game at the weekend. Wherever the story happens, the hard part is the same: finding people who want the same kind of story as you.

A lobby works for all of them. Describe your setting, your rules and the commitment you expect, and ask applicants to tell you about the character they have in mind. Text channels with replies and pinned messages can host a play-by-post game, while shared documents keep the lore, the house rules and the cast list in one place.

Your universe, your people

Plenty of roleplayers come to the hobby through a universe they love. Zlobby has spaces for geek culture fans, from anime and cosplay to fantasy, board games and TTRPGs, and for fandoms like the Star Wars community. It is a good place to meet people who already share your references before you invite them to your table.

Everything else on Zlobby

A campaign lives between sessions too. Here is what else you will find on the platform:

  • A social feed: Posts, profiles and friends, to share your games and your campaigns.
  • Guilds and teams: The same lobbies work for an MMO guild, a ranked roster or an event.
  • Gaming friends: Meet adults who play the same games, at the same hours.
  • 13 browser games: Free games with leaderboards, and multiplayer tic-tac-toe with a party chat.
  • Game server directories: Minecraft, Rust, Valheim and Counter-Strike 2 servers.
  • Geek dating: An optional space to meet other geeks, which you can switch off at any time.
  • Messages and profiles: Private conversations, and a profile you can dress up with frames, banners and themes.
  • Moderation and reporting: AI-assisted moderation, reporting tools and an 18+ community.
Zlobby’s free browser games: tic-tac-toe, FreeCell, Spider Solitaire, Solitaire, Bubble Reactor and Arrowwords.

How much does it cost?

Zlobby is free: creating a lobby, applying, joining and chatting cost nothing. Two optional plans, Pro and Legend, add premium profile themes, badges and other extras. Right now there is a good reason to try them: anyone who signs up before December 31, 2026 gets 12 months of Pro for free. You only need a verified email address. No payment card is asked, and nothing renews into a paid plan automatically.

Zlobby and the Tavern, together

The two fit naturally. Find your players on Zlobby, then come back to the Tavern to get ready: give every character a token with the Tavern Token Maker, grid your maps with the Map Gridder, and run your session zero with the Tavern’s session zero checklist. A well-illustrated lobby also attracts more applications, and the Forge is a great place to create its banner.
