Foundry VTT’s September 16, 2026, Version 14 Stable 10 release is a maintenance update with practical changes for GMs and developers: placeable objects can now be rotated with the mouse wheel, and scene processing has performance improvements. The release also includes API changes and bug fixes. Foundry warns that stable updates can still cause unexpected bugs or compatibility problems, so existing users should back up their data before updating.
A modest Stable 10 maintenance release
Foundry describes 14.368 as a minor stable release with bug fixes and small improvements to the user interface and API. It was published on September 16, 2026; that announcement date is distinct from today, October 6, 2026. The notes characterize the update as modest, so users looking for a major new workflow should not infer one from this patch description.
The notes mention performance work designed to support the imminent release of the Bastion of Blasphemies PF2E adventure module. They describe a high-resolution multi-Level Scene, but do not say the module has launched. This update should not be read as confirmation of the adventure’s availability.
What GMs may notice in play
The most immediately visible addition is mouse-wheel rotation for rotatable placeable objects when the cursor is over them. The release also fixes a separate issue that prevented rotating Drawings with the mouse wheel, so the notes distinguish a new object interaction from a drawing bug fix. If you regularly arrange objects or scene art, test the controls in a non-critical scene before relying on them during a live session.
A change to default Level elevation sets its top elevation to four times the grid distance, while preserving the same default foreground elevation as the previous calculation. Foundry also lists fixes involving Level ordering, token lighting in Firefox and scene canvas edges. For locked Hotbar drops, it adds an informative warning when a user attempts to drop an item; the notes do not describe this as a bug fix.

Performance and API changes
For larger or more demanding scenes, the release says it improves performance by avoiding a full-scene copy during environment updates. It also moves KTX2 texture transcoding into a worker. Foundry connects this work to support for a high-resolution, multi-Level scene in the Bastion module; that context does not establish general performance results for every world, module combination or machine.
Developers get several API and data changes, including new options for DocumentUUIDField and a DataModel method for finding the nearest Document. The notes also add programmatic PointSoundSource entries, allow JournalEntryPage to override _isHeading, and change when darkness-level updates are allowed if darknessLock is present. A package-development fix addresses errors when a system dependency cannot be found in the package list. These implementation notes are most relevant to system and module developers assessing their own code.
Back up and check your own setup
Foundry cautions that a stable release may still bring unexpected bugs or compatibility issues. Its advice is to make a complete backup of user data before updating. That is particularly sensible for a live campaign: preserve a restorable copy before changing core software, then check that essential systems and modules work in your own setup. Do not treat the stable label as a compatibility guarantee or as a reason to skip a backup.
The release notes do not say every issue will affect every installation, nor do they promise that each update will be disruptive. A cautious decision is to review the changes against your world and module needs, keep a known-good backup, and schedule testing before a session rather than changing a working campaign at the last moment. The release notice is historical evidence of what 14.368 included, not a recommendation to migrate without checking your own current version and compatibility requirements.
